Try this simple 3-5 minute energy reset any time you are feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed to help flip your body out of fight, flight & freeze programming.

Our fight flight and freeze stress response was developed as a survival mechanism hundreds of thousands of years ago. We are not meant to marinate in it for hours on end every day.

Though we generally do not encounter many deadly threats regularly in modern life - our ancient operating system is constantly on the lookout for danger. Constantly evaluating every though, feeling, emotion, situation, vibration & piece of energy we encounter to see if there is potential threat or 'danger' to us. It interprets feelings of stress as danger and flips the switch into fight flight, freeze instantaneously, accordingly.

If we live in stressful situations constantly enough - we no longer consciously register that stress. But our body does. Dis-ease, ill health, insomnia, poor digestion, mental & emotional imbalances, anxiety, physical pain and many other niggling symptoms that seemingly have 'no cause' are the result or living constantly in stress mode.

Try this simple 3-5 minute energy reset any time you are feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed to help flip your body out of fight, flight & freeze programming. Its a great mental 'circuit-breaker' between tasks too.

Stop!

Take a deep breath

As you exhale - Stretch!

Feel your feet on the floor

Close your eyes

Take a another deep breath - and as you exhale, consciously:
Soften your brow
Relax your face
Drop your shoulders
Unclench your jaw

And just be be for a moment…..

As you continue to breathe deeply, check in with your body

Start at your head and with each out-breath ask that body part to relax.
Feel it relax before you take your next breath.

Work your way down your body all the way to your toes.

Once you have done this feel the connection of your feet to the floor. For extra grounding, you can imagine roots growing from your feet down into the ground and deep into the earth.

And simply sit in this relaxed state breathing for a 1-5 minutes.

When you are ready, open your eyes and calmly go about your day.

If you feel stress and overwhelm returning, repeat as required to ground yourself. Your body, mind and emotions will thank your for it. :)

You can do this exercise practically anywhere - standing, sitting, lying down, standing in line at the supermarket, waiting for your kids at pickup, waiting for your appointment, during your lunch or coffee break. For added benefit, do this outside in the sun standing on the earth and just before going to bed at night. The more you practice, the faster your body will respond to the commands and triggers to relax.
